Walking above Church StrettonThroughout the year in the Heart of England region you will find a wealth of diverse events to suit every taste, ranging from small local craft fairs and rural shows, to regional exhibitions and international shows that draw people from all over the world.

Sporting events include football action from The Premiership, international cricket at Edgbaston, golf at the Belfry, and many others held at the National Indoor Arena such as athletics and badminton. The NEC once again plays host some of the country's top events like Crufts and the Sunday Times Motor Show Live! between 27 May and 6 June 2004.

Peacock garden  at Warwick CastleEach year there celebrations for St Georges Day which is also Shakespeare's birthday and this year, the RSC in Stratford is throwing open its doors to the public including the chance to meet Dame Judy Dench. 2004 sees the Royal Show returning to the National Agricultural Centre at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire, where you will find everything from traditional country crafts to show jumping competitions.

There are some quite unusual events such as the sheep racing at Hoo Farm in Shropshire and the World Toe Wrestling Championships, which take place in July at Wetton in Staffordshire.

Ford green HouseMore traditional events include festivals of music, dance, poetry, food and drink, exhibitions of art, sculpture and photographs at many of the galleries of the region. There's a great selection of events aimed at children the most popular with some of the younger visitors being the 'Days Out with Thomas' at the Severn Valley Railway.
